Too Busy to Get Anything Done

Ok, this one is tricky to discuss without pissing someone off and I’m sorry about that ahead of time. It is easier to talk about abortion, the middle east or religion than it is to tell someone that they are too busy doing stuff to actually accomplish anything. They can’t see it, but everyone around them can. We all know someone who always jumps at a new project, adds responsibility (and tasks) to their job, someone who can’t seem to say no until their life is not theirs anymore.

You recognize them because they are always quick to tell you how busy their life is and it truly is. They are REALLY busy people! Whether it is a really busy corporate job, their own company that has gotten out of control or having to drive the kids everywhere, their own lives have gotten to the point where the idea of setting goals and doing something to accomplish them every day is laughable.

I don’t have the space or the expertise to fix this one, all I can do is irritate you if you have this issue by reminding you that you are getting no closer to your goals than if you were sitting on the coach and eating bon bons. My loving suggestion is to figure out a way to de-clutter your life and have some time to focus on your goals, on YOUR life. A few things I’ve learned along the way:

Someone else’s emergency is not your emergency.

Climbing the corporate ladder isn’t all that.

Ask for help, people want to help you.

Your corporation will go on without you.

Do something, everyday, to make your soul happy.
