Most guys who do what I do for a living, take care of people’s money, are going to default to the Republican side of the ballot, kind of like you’d expect a social worker to fall to the Democratic side. So, I’ve been fielding some frustrated and angry client calls today with quite a bit of patience and grace, I’ve never quite experienced a day like today and I’m enjoying the emotions that are flowing through our country at this moment.
Look, my guy lost, but he lost on merritt. Lost his message early, pandered and belonged to a party that blew their opportunity to govern and went as far as they could on Fear and Greed. So, I was less than thrilled to pull the lever and wouldn’t have been at all opposed to my chad hanging, no one on my side voted without holding their nose. So, I’m not thrilled with some of the government policies that are coming our way, but, you know what, at least for today, I’m willing to give President Elect Obama the benefit of the doubt.
You have to be thrilled to be an American today, an America the found a new generation invested in the political process, a generation that might have been lost for life if they didn’t finally win one. You have to be thrilled to hear a black student on TV scream with joy, “Only in America can you imagine this happening, only in America!” You have to be thrilled for children and disciples of Martin Luther King, thrilled for the pain of the idiots who still fly the Confederate flag.
You have to be thrilled that the world might see us as a leader again, that they might see that the American people, “Get it”. You have to be thrilled if you want to see research and development dollars poured into alternative energy research, if you want to stop financing both sides of the war on terror. Thrilled if you believe that enough lives have been lost in Iraq and enough dollars poured into the sands of the desert.
If you are of a certain age and remember the hopes and dreams of a generation that were assassinated along with our young leaders, you have to be thrilled that “Hope” is again alive, that a nation said, yes, we can do better, yes we will move beyond fear and hatred. That for today, at least for today, idealism lives again.
SO, yea, I’d like to find a way to accomplish all this stuff without higher taxes and more government, we all would, but I like the idea that we had a revolution yesterday and nobody died. God bless America.

Ah yes, but what other country truly will stand behind the phrase “home of the free, land of the brave”. We as Americans can now really mean it when we tell any of our children who aspire to greatness to go for it. Your dreams can come true. Artists, astronauts, doctors, lawyers, and yes, even presidents. I think your book will go a long way to help promote that to anyone and everyone, assuring they can have the money they need to acheive their dreams.
